Hybrid mouse: USB or PS/2?

My Microsoft Optical Mouse Blue can be connected either to a PS/2 mouse port with an included adapter or a USB port. My question is which is the better method or place? I've been using it on a USB port for a while and it seems okay... I do notice using CoolBeans monitor that just moving the cursor around can make CPU usage go up to 20%. I tried it for a while on the PS/2 port and about one-third of the time, Windows would not see any mouse in the Device Manager and I would have to reboot.

Any thoughts, please? Thanks.

I always prefer USB, mainly because my mice have always had extra buttons on the side, sensitivity control, etc. that go along with them, and if you use the PS/2 connector then those features will not work.

However if you're just using the average two-button mouse with scroll wheel, either one is fine I'd say.

I know my PS/2 port is partially broken.
Thats why i use USB. I have to wiggle it around or pull it out and reinsert it if i want to us ps/2

I use PS2. I like having spare USB ports, also when I was installing windows I couldn't use them with USB. Later I found out I needed to adjust my bios. But to get into the bios I needed a PS2 keyboard!

usb is better in my opinion, mainly because my mouse and keyboard use it stock, so it must be better lol

lovely?

If you plug in a keyboard via PS/2, it makes that obnoxious beep when you press three buttons at once.
