how to copy select files from an xp machine to a vista one?

hello,

I just bought a vista system. I have an xp computer that I am keeping, but there are quite a few files I want to copy to the vista machine.

I've seen software that transfes files to vista, but I don't want to get rid of them on the xp. Do any of you have any suggestions?

I just figured by using something like that (if available) would make it much faster and put the xp files where they belong on vista.

any help would be great,

thank you.
