Laptop Won't Boot from CD

First of all, is this LiveCD? I don't know because I have just ran it through VM's.

I can't get my laptop to boot from a CD... I want to remove Vista, for now... And start by 'uncrapping' my laptop by getting rid of Dell's idiotic partitioning...

EDIT: I just got it to boot an Ubuntu 7.04 LiveCD and it gave me this "can't access tty; job control turned off"... It doesn't sound happy

That error with tty means that you have a bad download or burn. Try re-downloading and burning at a slower speed.
