Old Laptop

I have an old laptop which is broke. FOA , the power supplly seems to have vanished into thin air. Secondly, my hdd controller is broken. I know this because I exchanged the HDD and it was not recognized althought it was hooked up correctly. Now my 2 questions : How could I find out what voltage my notebook is, so I can start it again ? And how can I fix the HDD controler.

i don't think you can fix your controller if its physically broken.
