Upgrade Laptop Processor


Can I change my Processor for my laptop? I have a Compaq Presario F557US...or can U change the processor for any laptop?



PS-I kno dis is in the wrong section..but I need an answer fast.

I'm sure it could be done, but a hassle. You'd have to literally rip the laptop apart just to access the hsf.

^depends on the laptop i guess. my alienware had everything easy access, it just sucks because laptops are so finicky and have little heat-pads everywhere to protect the capacitors. i'd take it to a nearby computer shop and let them deal with it.

but the only problem is the laptop was designed to use that processor only.



a newer faster processor will generate more heat.

and the laptop might not be capable of cooling it down.



which could cause damage to the motherboard and processor.

naw newer processors might even run cooler, a pentium 4 will surely create more heat, then say a c2d...

Yeah, but then the compatibility issues... might need a BIOS flash...



I'd only recommend it if it's with a AMD or a Core 2 Duo... Pentium's are very hot...

Yes you can upgrade your processor. Its not an easy job but the service manual will help you out a lot. I recommend a Turion processor. But before you even start taking part your computer look at the manual and update your BIOS.
