screen cracked

my brothers laptop screen is cracked down the middle, i guess im just wondering how what the options are for fixing it. should we just send it back to manufacturer since that is a large part of the computer or would a local ploace like at best buy be able to?

if it is still under warranty, send it back. if not it is going to cost about 300$ to replace but still send it to the manufacturer's. they have the parts for it
