Retrieve user preferences from database

Hello, I am completely lost and ASP inept. However, somehow I have managed to agree to help build an ASP website.

There is a registration page in which users enter their preferences. Those preferences are then stored in an Access database.

I now need to figure out how to show the user preferences upon login, i.e. hello X, we see you are interested in A, B and C programs.

I have searched the web for sample code but am not coming up with anything. Does anyone out there have suggestions for sample code?

What further information can I provide in order to get help?

Thank you,

Anne

The best thing for you to do IMO is to download some free asp scripts.

Try going to aspin.com and searching for asp scripts that are similar to what you are wanting to create. A message board might be a good script to use (registrations, logins, submitting forms to the database, deleting, updating etc...)

The people who make these scripts will normally include detailed instructions on how to install them, they also comment their code very well, detailing what every section does and how it does it. I found this very helpful when I was first starting out. I found reading how to use ASP very boring, but setting up an already working script and playing about with the code is a much better way of learning IMO. Obviously I'm not saying you should use other people抯 code and credit it as your own, but analysing their code and producing something similar to meet your requirements would be a good way of starting out.
